The Preschool class was so busy today. They worked with play dough, giving them opportunities for small motor, sensory, and creative art exploration. Plus it's just fun! Their letter of the week is "G" and they're practicing making the sound and finding words that start with the letter "G". They also constructed a mall with the blocks and pretend people, complete with a doctor, a dentist, a paint store, and construction workers. They played this together for quite a while, pretending to be the people figures, and going to the various stores in the "mall". This imaginative play is vital to their development, as they learn about community helpers and the roles they play in our society. They also practiced taking turns, sharing, communication, cooperation, and problem solving skills. We acknowledge and encourage play as a integral part of growing up and learning about our world.
