Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math: All of these areas are incorporated into daily learning here at The Discovery Center. Above is the "exploding colors" experiment. We used milk, food coloring, and liquid dish detergent. We poured milk in the plate, added a few drops of food coloring, and watched the colors sit there. Then we added a drop of dish soap (on the end of the q-tip) and, bam! the colors flew around the plate! Why did this happen? The dish soap breaks the surface tension, allowing the colors to "explode" around the plate. Try this at home, it's easy and fun!!

We welcome our newest Toddler, Cooper, to the Toddler Room! We have two other babies transitioning as well! We have two toddlers transitioning to the preschool room! Whew!! We love to watch our children grow and move through our center. That's what this is all about. Pretty soon the babies end up in our after-school program! We're so proud of our teachers, and their dedication to the children and families here!
We are studying about transportation this month, and the children are having lots of fun learning about how we get from here to there on land, sea, and air. We've been playing with different types of boats in the water table, and making our cars and trucks go on different types of roads. We will make hot air balloons later this month, and make use of recyclables to make rockets ships! How do you and your family get around?
