As the owner of a nature-based preschool that has transitioned from a traditional curriculum model, my philosophy is rooted in the belief that children learn best through hands-on, real-world experiences. Combining nature-based and play-based learning, we provide rich opportunities for children to explore, question, and problem-solve daily. From observing seasonal changes, gardening, and composting to dramatic play, sensory exploration, and collaborative games, our curriculum seamlessly integrates core skills like literacy, math, and science in ways that feel meaningful and engaging.
This balanced approach nurtures academic growth, social-emotional development, creativity, and resilience. By connecting with nature and engaging in purposeful play, children develop curiosity, confidence, and a deep respect for the world around them. As the Director of The Discovery Center, I am committed to creating a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive environment where children thrive, and families feel supported. With over 25 years of education experience, I have a deep passion for fostering a love of learning in young children through a holistic approach that blends academics, social-emotional growth, play-based learning and nature-based exploration.
In our preschool, we embrace the idea that learning happens everywhere—both indoors and out. Our programs incorporate hands-on activities, from science and math to art and literacy, encouraging curiosity and creativity in every lesson. We emphasize community, environmental awareness, and foundational skills that set children up for lifelong success.
As a leader, I value open communication and strong partnerships with families and staff to ensure that every child’s experience is both enriching and joyful. I am dedicated to ongoing professional growth for myself and my team to maintain a high standard of care and education.
Seeing children grow and thrive each day is the most rewarding part of my work, and I am grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact on each family in our community.
